Sharing HYDROS Devices/Collective Access
Sharing access with another HYDROS account is easy. This feature is particularly useful for “Service Accounts,” who can manage your system and receive notifications from your HYDROS.
You can share access to individual HYDROS devices or entire collectives. When you share access, you can select between:
- Read Only – The guest can view your devices but cannot make any changes.
- Override Only – The guest can see your devices and manually override outputs, but cannot make permanent configuration changes.
- Full Access – The guest can change your HYDROS devices or the collective. They have complete control.
To share access:
- Please select the device or collective you’d like to share and ensure you can access the Status screen.
- Go to the upper right-hand corner menu and select “Account Preferences.”
- Scroll down and tap on “Manage Sharing.”
- Tap on the + symbol on the bottom right to grant a share.
- Type in a VALID HYDROS email account.
- Confirm which device/collective you would like to share.
- Specify the “type” of share as described above.
- Tap on “Start Sharing”
To accept a share:
- Start the HYDROS app and tap on the upper left-hand corner menu button.
- You will also see the newly shared device in your list of devices. At this time, it will be gray.
- Tap the shared device, then accept the share by tapping the green checkmark to the right of the name.
Once you accept the share, the new HYDROS device or collective will be listed along with your own devices. To access the shared device, tap on it the same way you access your device.
Nickname:
As a guest user, you can give the device/collective a “nickname” to make organizing your device list effortless.
- Start the HYDROS app.
- Go to the upper right-hand corner menu and select “Account Preferences.”
- Scroll down and tap on “Manage Sharing.”
- Type the nickname you wish to give the device/collective and tap OK.
- Make your way back to the device list to see the change.
The “nickname” is visible only to the guest user. It is not available or displayed to the device owner.
Notifications (Owner/Guest)
The HYDROS app allows the owner and guest to define each notification-level trigger for each device or collectively. For example, an owner can define “Yellow” as emails only, while a guest can define “Yellow” as push notifications for the same device or collective. For example, as a guest, you could define “Yellow” as email + Push, but the owner could send no notifications. This example would be handy for “Service Accounts” that want to receive messages without bothering the owner.
To Define “Guest” Notification Levels:
- Go to the upper right-hand corner menu and select “Account Preferences.”
- Scroll down and tap on “Manage Sharing.”
- Go to the device’s notifications you wish to adjust, then tap the pencil icon to the right of the name.
- Here, you can define which actions to take for yellow- or orange-level notifications.
To change the notification level for an input/output, go to the output itself and select the desired notification level. As we specified previously, changing this level does override the owner’s notification level. As a guest, your notifications’ “definition” is separate from the owner’s, but the input/output notification “choice” is the same.
WARNING: Local (audible) alarms are NOT available on “guest” notification options.
To Define “Owner” Notification Levels:
- Tap on the three horizontal bars in the upper left-hand corner of the Status Screen.
- Select Options
- Scroll down to Notification Preferences.
- Select your notification level. The factory defaults are:
- YELLOW – Email Only
- ORANGE – Email + Push Notification
- RED – Email + Push Notification + Audible Alarm
- Set your Notification Frequency (how often you will get a notification that an alarm is ON)
Pages
A guest can create “Pages” separate from the owner’s layout. As a guest, when you first access the shared device, it will have no defined pages.
Terminating a Share
Both the owner and the guest can terminate a share.
- Start the HYDROS app.
- Go to the upper right-hand corner menu and select “Account Preferences.”
- Scroll down and tap on “Manage Sharing.”
- Find the share you wish to terminate, then tap the trash can to the right of the name.
Transferring Ownership
Current Owner:
You can transfer the ownership of HYDROS devices. To do, follow the simple steps:
- Tap on Transfer Ownership at the bottom of the “Manage Sharing” page.
- Select the individual device or Collective you are transferring to a new owner.
- Enter the email address of the new owner.
WARNING: This process is permanent and cannot be undone. The new owner will need to
re-register the devices via Bluetooth before accessing and configuring HYDROS.
- Tap on Confirm to transfer the ownership.
New Owner:
As the new owner, here are the steps you must take to successfully take ownership of the collective (or individual device) and transfer the data.
- Log in to your HYDROS app
- On the left menu, you will see the new collective or device listed. It will be grayed out. Tap it, then tap the green checkmark to accept the transfer.
- Currently, the collective or device appears in blue. Attempting to access it now will be unsuccessful. To connect to the collective, you need to re-register each device under your account. Follow the instructions provided here to complete this process.
- After re-registering the devices, you will be able to connect to your collective or individual device and view the configuration. Before uploading any changes, verify that all devices in the collective, along with your inputs and outputs, are visible. Once you are sure the configuration data is correct, you can proceed to upload the changes.
